Alan Lewis MagniView Alan Lewis' latest stereocard viewer, the MagniView, allows me to see detail I never knew existed, even in my own cards (especially the aerial landscapes).
Quality viewing with the MagniView is all about the high quality, achromatic lenses. You will see larger, crisper views of antique stereo cards, Realist format camera prints mounted on standard Holmes size cards, and modern stereo views such as I produce and sell at this site. In addition, it is also a MEDIUM FORMAT SLIDE viewer! An accessory lens panel accomodates either transparency or PRINT medium format stereo views (scope sitting on a table only, not hand held).
Specs: 140mm f.l. (approximately) achromatic lenses for 30% larger apparent stereo image than standard Holmes style stereoscopes. Lenses have adjustable centerline spacing to allow for ideal viewing comfort.
For medium format transparencies, 85mm achromatic lenses. Lens centerline is fixed.
Soft hood surround to mask out incidental light.
User can easily adjust alignment of lenses.
Zero free play card holder. Stereo views are perpendicular and parallel to lenses.
Smooth Teflon lined card slide focus adjustment.
All moving parts are adjustable for smooth action.
The lightweight MagniView is cleverly designed to sit on a table without using a stand of any sort, or can be hand held.
